The Return of Nibiru - DVD Cover

We aim to supply each member of the cast along with funding councils a hard copy of this project which will include all the same media which will be stored on the website. This might seem like quite a pointless task which many people may perceive as worthless junk but in my eyes there is something appealing about having a hard copy to help follow up this work, I analysed why I prefer vinyls to mp3s and figured its not just the sentimental value but an aesthetic one too. When you compare a product that you can physically touch it seems somewhat more valuable. I'm hoping this might be seen in the same light a potential investor.

The Return of Nibiru - Site Map

I have considered using a website to promote the trailer for "The Return of Nibiru." This is the easiest method for a client to view my work, and opens my idea up to a wider-ranged audiences. I have developed a basic site-map which, along with much of the footage and information from this trailer has been given to a friend of mine Andy Little a professional qualified web designer who has kindly offered to put this website together for me to help boost my web presence and look all together more professional when contacting funding councils. All we are waiting on to complete the site is the trailer with sound and a domain name, http://thereturnofnibiru.com/ is currently not in use.

Encounters Film Festival

Encounters International Film Festival is the umbrella title for two of the UK's leading film festivals Brief Encounters and Animated Encounters, with a host of cross-over attractions, at venues in and around the Harbourside area of Bristol, UK.

The longest-running festival in the partnership began life in 1995 as Brief Encounters - originally envisioned as a ‘one-off' event, to mark the centenary of cinema. It proved so popular that it is now an annual attraction - expanding year on year and acknowledged internationally as one of the world's most respected celebrations of short film.

In 2001, the short film festival was joined by Animated Encounters - celebrating and showcasing the productions, talent, creativity, technology and skills that make animation such a popular and successful film form worldwide. It too, has enjoyed a rapid rise to global prominence, as is demonstrated by its status as the UK's representative for the prestigious European Cartoon D'Or.

Originally these two festivals were held at separate times of the year, however, in 2006 the two events united under the Encounters Short Film Festival banner to record-breaking effect. This trend continued for the next 3 years with the festival growing from strength to strength with each annual event.

Highlights from the most recent edition of the festival included a Q&A with directors Andrea Arnold (Fish Tank), Tom Harper (The Scouting Book for Boys) and Eran Creevy (Shifty) discussing their progression from Shorts to Features, a Cinematography Masterclass with Gary Shaw (Moon) and a Late Lounge with live Poo-eoke!
Special guests at the festival included Jeremy Brock, John Coates, Paddy Considine, Mark Kermode, Richard Eyre, Henry LaBounta, Peter Lord, Phill Jupitus and Frank Cottrell Boyce.

This year sees the return of Animated Encounters with the competition programmes being divided into Brief Encounters (all short film, including animation) and Animated Encounters (animation only), accepting films completed from 1 Jan 2009 and less than 30 minutes in length of every genre: animation, live action drama, documentary, experimental and music video and does NOT have a premiere policy.

Encounters Festivals Ltd is a limited company and registered charity, managed by a board of trustees.

Networking - David & Daz

Working with Daz Kaye and David Castleford on my FMP has been good bit of networking. Daz has offered me some work over the summer doing some visual effects for a feature film he is just about to finish scripting. David is putting me in touch The little Red Light Productions, that are interested in my idea being produced as a feature film whilst we are spending much of the summer developing a feature length script. David and Daz are well connected with big name producers, directors and actors and see no reason why The Return of Nibiru can't get funded.

Screen Yorkshire - Funding Agency - The Return of Nibiru

After auditioning Daz Kaye for the role of the Illuminati Leader, he suggested that we would be in with good chance of accessing funding for the production of "The Return of Nibiru" as a feature film. After looking over my treatment and and script he claimed he had worked on films with much less depth and individuality than this project, the place to start in terms of funding would be Screen Yorkshire, Daz went on to recommend Vision&Media. CafeFX - Ideal Employer

Since the second year of this course, I developed a profound interset in producing visual effects with the aim of achieving photo-realistic results. Whilst this hasn't always gone to plan the aim is still there and with my persistance, I know that this will one day be achieved. Whilst I have since become aware that there are many specialism involved in achieving photo-real visual effects for film I have struggled to discover where true potential lies. Nearing the end of my degree, I have discovered the main area of interest for me is a Visual Effects Artist, whilst I do have skills in compositing also I feel there would not enough creative input involved to keep me interested.

CafeFX would be an ideal employer as it offers specialsim in visual effects production and supervision, photo-real 3D environments and in stereoscopic 3D, these are my main areas of interest within film at the moment and with CafeFX being recognized as a world-class provider of stunning imagery with over 80 films to credit, CafeFX would be the ideal place to begin my career. Founded in 1993 CafeFX is has work on some of my favourite films including Alice and Wonderland, Shutter Island and Pan's Labyrinth. Located in Santa Barbara County, the studio sits on an eight-acre campus partnering cutting-edge technology with a friendly, comfortable environment.
